Rolwaling Trekking

Rolwaling Valley is situated between the Everest and Langtang regions. Rolwaning Valley is the home of famous peaks such as Mt. Ghauri Shankar (7134m), Dorje Lakpa, and many others. Rolwaling is the East-West Valley below Gauri Shankar (7145m) and just south of Tibetan Border. Rolwaling Valley is also known as one of the seven hidden valleys in the Himalayas. Technical mountaineering skills and equipment are required for this incredible adventure.

The trek to Rolwaling, west of Everest and near the Tibetan border offers fascinating experience. The Rolwaling Trekking involves crossing of high pass Trashi Labtsa (5,755m) and the climbing of Parcharmo (6,273m) and it is a must to equip oneself with mountaineering gear (to be brought by the trekkers). The Rolwaling, Khumbu trek provides an experience of the remoteness, romantic mountain views, diverse flora and fauna and rich local cultures. The Rolwaling trek requires good walking experience and good physical fitness. Na Gaun, which is only the summer settlement, is the highest altitude reached in the trek.

  1. Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu.
     You are welcomed by hospitable meeting and then you will be transferred to hotel. Our airport representative will explain briefly the program upon arrival. Overnight at Hotel.
  2. Day 02: Sightseeing of world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley including, Kathmandu Darbar square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath stupa & Pashupatinath Temple.
    To get a feel for the city of Kathmandu and a first impression for its amazing architectural monuments we will begin our day with spending some time on the Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you have the chance to see the living Goddess at the window of her residence, the Kumari Temple. Then visit Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, which is one of the world’s oldest Buddhist stupa (more than 2500 years old). After visit the Swayambhu your will drive to Buddhist Stupa at a place known as Boudha, about 7 km east of Kathmandu. The largest spherical Stupa was built during the 5th century A.D. Then we visit the Pashupatinath is the most famous Hindu temple and is situated on the banks of the river Bagmati. It is the place of crimination of Hindu. Overnight in Hotel.
  3. Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu (1350m.) to Dolakha (1660m.) via Lamosangu (750m.) and Charikot (1980m.) by bus. You camp for the night.
  4. Day 04: Drive from Dolakha to Shingati (950m.) via Piguti (920m.) takes about three and half hours.
    The trails pass through gravel road crossing the different villages of mixed community. You have to cross the several streams and jungles with varieties of orchid, rhododendron and other natural vegetation. You camp for the night.
  5. Day 05: Trek from Shingati to Jagat (1440m.) takes about seven hours. You trek through normal flat land along the side of the river. You pass through rice terraced. There are small villages on your way which are inhabited by mixed community. Several times, you cross the jungles covered by orchid, few rhododendron trees and wild vegetation. Now you cross a suspension bridge to reach Jagat, a small town resided by people of mixed culture. You camp for the night.
  6. Day 06: Trek from Jagat to Simigaon (2020m.) takes about seven and half hours.
    The first part of your trails follows normally flat path, then it passes through the jungle. At several places you cross through suspension bridges. There are numerous villages on your way. You can find small teashops and local shops at some of the places. You steeply climb up to Simigaon, a village inhabited by Buddhist and few Hindus. You camp for the night.
  7. Day 07: Trek from Simigaon to Daldung La (3976m.) takes about seven hours.
    On the route you come across the Sherpa villages. The uphill trek covers regions with varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. After the uphill trek you will now come across paths through which you will enjoy the scenic beauty of the place. You camp for the night.
  8. Day 08: Trek from Daldung La to Beding (3690m.) takes about seven and half hours.
    The trek now ascends uphill through different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. You trek over the suspension bridges over the deep gorges in few places making the trek even more enchanting. You finally reach Beding which is a big Sherpa village. You camp for the night.
  9. Day 09:  Rest day at Beding for acclimatization.
    You can hike in and around for acclimatization and have panoramic views of mountains like Mt. Gauri Shankar, Tibetan mountains of the Tibetan boarder. You camp for the night.
  10. Day 10:  Trek from Beding to Na (4180m.) takes about four hours.
    This day you can explore the upper slopes of the valley for Snow Partridge or a visit to the nearby glacier lake. The trek path slightly ascends along the river bank. The place is an open path with fresh air and the charming sound of the river. You can have the panoramic view of the mountains as the trek moves forward. You will also come across the Sherpa village having their own specialties. You camp for the night.
  11. Day 11:  Rest Day at Na for preparation for Ramdung Go (5930m.).
    You will be able to witness the various views of mountains like Gauri Shankar, Menlung, Yalung and the mountains of the Tibet. You will be on a Yalung Glacier camp today. You camp for the night.
  12. Day 12: Trek from Na to Tso Rolpa Lake (4540m.)
     You will be trekking through the flat and gradually up path. You will be able to witness the beautiful Natural Lake filled with the chilling water of the glaciers. The views of Menlung and Tibetan Side Mountains add glory to your trek. You camp for the night.
  13. Day 13: Trek Tso Rolpa to Trakarding Glacier (4800m.)
    Early morning you will walk through the glaciers throughout the day and will be able to experience the new enchanting beauties that would add extra dimensions into your trial. You camp for the night.
  14. Day 14: Trek from Trakarding Glacier to Trashi Lapcha Pedi Camp (5755m.)
    The trail will still be ascending through some rock climbing and a gradual walk on the glacier. You will camp in the TashiLapcha Pedi camp today.
  15. Day 15: Climb from Trashi Lapcha Pedi to Trashi Lapcha Pass (5755m.) to Trashi Cape.
    You will climb up the Trashi Lapcha Pedi and cross the Trashi Lapcha Pass through Trashi Cape. You trek through snow covered route. You camp for the night.
  16. Day 16: Trek from Trashi Cape to Thyomgbo (4350m.)
     Today you will walk across the glacier. The trail descends down towards Thyomgbo. You camp for the night
  17. Day 17:  Trek Thyomgbo to Thame (3820m.)
    Early morning you will trek down to Thame. This trail gradually descends and you trek an easier trail and will be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the environment. You camp for the night.
  18. Day 18: Trek from Thame to Namche Bazaar (3440m.)
    The trail descends gently for early one hour to Sanasa (3550m.). Now you can catch a glimpse of the majestic peaks of the Khumbu including Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Passing by several villages and numerous teashops, the trail descends steeply to a bridge over the river Dudh Koshi at funki Tenga (3250mThe way from Sanasa to Namche is uneven with views of forests, scenery and mountains.
  19. Day 19:  Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2886 m.) takes about six hours.
    The last day of your trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla for your overnight stay. You camp for the night.
  20. Day 20: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu.
     You take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes.
  21. Day 21: Nepal Hiking Team’s Representative will Transfer you  to International airport for your home departure. “Farewell”
